 Memphis Style BBQ Sauce

I found the recipe on the net and thought I would share it.

Memphis Style BBQ Sauce

1 cup ketchup (Heinz)
1/2 cup molasses
1/2 cup apple-cider vinegar
1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Combine ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil on stovetop and reduce to desired consistency.

This is a spicy sauce but not terriable. Susan doesn't like hot foods but said this was one of the best BBQ sauces she has ever tasted and I would agree it was amazing. I am sure once you make it and find that it is to spicy for you then add a bit more ketchup a little at a time until you get the taste you like.

I'm sure it would go good with anything you BBQ but I will share what I used it for.

I took a Boston Butt (pork). Used Mesquite wood chunks for the charcoal and cooked it on the grill for 4 1/2 hours. My grill was pretty consistant at 300 to 315 degrees. ( after 2 hours the coal was gone so I pulled it and started more coals and finished the additional 2 hours.)

towards the end of the coals the temp drops to around 250 at that point is when you want to start the second round of coals.

After the 4 hours I put the Boston Butt on a baking pan. Poored in some beer and covered it with foil. Cooked it an additional 1 and a 1/2 hours in the oven and 300 degrees. Removed and let it cool so I could pull the meat (string it for bbq sandwiches).

Some people like to mix the sauce together with the pork.

I like making my sandwich then drizzle the sauce over the meat and top it with coleslaw.

There's a little too much "taking butt" and "pulling meat" for me in this recipe. Sorry. (Yes, I'm a 13 year old in a 44 year old body, lol)

Seriously though, it sounds really tasty! BBQ with slaw and a cold beer is awesome!
